Lakeview Academy seeks to hire a full-time, dynamic 6-12th grade computer science teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of computer science and computational thinking, strong collaboration skills, and a commitment to learning. Lakeview Academy is improving its foundational computer science curriculum, and we seek candidates with a desire and a capacity to shape the program and to collaborate on curriculum to meet the needs of students.
In addition to teaching, the candidate selected for this position will be assisting in the coaching and advising of the Middle and Upper School robotics teams (an additional supplement is provided).
Lakeview faculty regularly engage with the broader community experience by advising students, chaperoning school events, and participating in school meetings, committees, and events.

Experience teaching computer science principles to middle and/or early high school grades
Experience teaching problem-solving and/or math skills
Excellent writing, communication, presentation, and group facilitation skills
Ability to work more than 40 hours per week, and during the evenings and weekends, as needed
High comfort level with technology
Experience working and communicating effectively
Experience mentoring and working closely with youth

Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively teach and create lessons for foundational computer science classes in the Middle and Upper schools
Develop lessons that are engaging and grade level appropriate
Collaborate with other technology teachers on curriculum and program development
Communicate with parents and students regularly
Assist with coaching of Middle and/or Upper School robotics teams (FIRST Lego League and FIRST Tech Challenge)
Travel and supervise transportation of students as needed
Duties begin August 2021
Position is based on ten-month contract
