Director of Enrollment Management Job Title: Director of Enrollment Management Reports to: Head of School Status: Full Time; Exempt The Director of Enrollment Management reports directly to the Head of School and is a member of the administrative leadership team. The Director is responsible for all aspects of enrollment management: admission management, retention, research, and marketing. This includes overseeing an admissions team of 4, communications team of 2, and generating more than $25 million in tuition revenue annually; working cooperatively with senior leadership, the Board of Trustees, the CFOO, Institutional Researcher, as well as Faculty and Staff; and developing marketing and strategic plans to position LWHS in a competitive Bay Area independent school market. The Director plays a vital role in the LWHS community, providing leadership and setting the school’s recruitment and enrollment management strategies and goals and takes initiative to conduct research and stay abreast of best practices with the enrollment management and admission field. Primary Responsibilities: - Provide leadership for enrollment planning, process, management, and student attrition; and the development and implementation of strategies to retain high-quality applicants from population groups that are underrepresented.
- Successfully enroll students into grades 9-11 that reflect Lick-Wilmerding’s mission and commitment to academic excellence, diversity, and inclusion.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of admissions' events including, but not limited to:
- Open Houses (5), Athletics Open House (1), Interview Day (2), Incoming 9th Grade Families Welcome Reception, Family Mentor Program, and Placement Testing Day (1), Singleton Ice Cream Party (1), Freshman Parent Orientation (1), Spotlight on LWHS Performing Arts (1), SF Public/Parochial High School Fair at LWHS, A Better Chance (ABC) High School Fair at LWHS, Campus ‘shadow’ visit program (Sept-Dec)
- Attend Admissions related outreach programs during school year, including, but not limited to: SF Public/Parochial High School Fair, Marin/Ross High School Fair, SF Independent School High School Fair, St. Matthew's Episcopal High School Fair, ABC High School Fair, East Bay High School Fair, Boys and Girls Club Fair, San Mateo H.S. Fair, Coastside Community H.S. Fair
- Oversee the Flexible Tuition application process for prospective families, including production of application materials and tracking required forms
- Evolve current policies and practices pertaining to Faculty involvement during Admissions process in consultation with Dean of Students and Assistant Head of School; Manage Faculty committees where teachers evaluate applicant interviews and read and evaluate applications; Ensure active engagement of the Faculty during the admissions process
- Assist with creating advising groups for incoming 9th grade students; Consult with Dean of Students and Freshman/Sophomore Dean to share background/entry information about 9th grade students with presenting concerns
- Consult throughout the academic year with Deans, Advisors, Director of Student Inclusion, School Counselors, and Director of Learning Strategies on student issues that might arise - in or out of the classroom
- Manage and collaborate with the Communications and Media Director to develop brand identity and messaging for LWHS through school publications, webpages, admissions materials, and other media vehicles
- Update content on admissions webpages, relevant to LWHS current events and admissions timeline/deadlines
- Manage all aspects of design and production of admissions viewbook, application forms (online and print), and other promotional pieces
- Cultivate relationships with non-profit organizations working with underserved youth including: A Better Chance (ABC), Breakthrough Collaborative, First Graduate, Aim High, Summerbridge, and SMART
- Cultivate relationships with Bay Area middle school placement counselors and school directors
- Represent LWHS during biannual Bay Area Admissions' Directors' (BAAD) Meetings
- Collaborate with Institutional Researcher on high level institutional demographic research projects, including but not limited to:
- Annual Market Research survey to students and families offered enrollment to gauge their experience of our admissions process and their high school decision process
- Develop quantitative and qualitative survey for Seniors to assess LWHS student experience
- Develops long-term strategies and implementation plans in accordance with enrollment priorities and the mission of LWHS. Works with senior leadership, Facstaff, Board and other school constituencies to develop and articulate admissions priorities and philosophy.
- Understands and informs school leadership about current research, demographics, and admission and enrollment trends, ensuring that changes and challenges are anticipated, understood, and addressed.
- Maintain statistical and trend data related to enrollment, assessing student demographic data to ensure alignment with the School’s mission
- Serve on LWHS Administrative Team; Attend Board of Trustee meetings
- Effectively and supportively manage a team of four colleagues in the Admission office and two colleagues in the Communications office, as well as an extensive network of parent and student volunteers to foster an inclusive and participatory community
- Administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, and all forms of communication with prospective students and families, as needed.
