Upper Division Studio Art Teacher: The Berkeley Preparatory School Department of Visual Art and Design is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and creative professional to teach 2D Media (including foundations-based curricula and AP 2D/3D Art and Design) for grades 9-12. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of a wide range of art media, a thorough understanding of art history and contemporary art practices, and a passion for inspiring creativity with this particular age group. Candidates must be engaged collaborators and excellent communicators, with experience creating exhibitions and installing gallery shows. Studio management skills including budgeting, ordering, and organizing studio supplies are a must. A solid familiarity with art and design college portfolio development is also a must. An understanding of the value of technology in the studio and an ability to integrate technology into the curriculum as needed is assumed. Ideal candidates will show a strong willingness to receive feedback regularly, grow professionally, significantly contribute to the life of the school, and will be eager to work in a culturally and ethnically diverse environment. The ability to apply student-centered methods in a challenging, invigorating, and growth-oriented atmosphere is necessary. Compensation and Benefits: The appointment is a full-time position with full benefits for the 2021-2022 school year. The compensation package will be very competitive nationally and commensurate with experience, degree attainment, and the national independent school and college markets.
