Doane Academy seeks a full-time teacher of upper school chemistry and an additional science or computer science course beginning in the 2021-2022 academy year.
In addition to the classroom responsibilities, teachers are Doane serve as advisors to small groups of students and often take on the responsibility of overseeing clubs or other extracurricular activities. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
A minimum of three years experience with teaching upper school chemistry courses, including Advanced Placement is preferred, but with consideration will be given to academic and work experience in lieu of classroom time.
BA with major in sciences, BS, or BSE degree required; masters degree preferred.
Ability and interest in teaching additional science or technology courses -- such as Physics or Computer Science -- required.
Familiarity and experience with using student-centered pedagogies such as Modeling Instruction, Harkness, ISLE, and CIMM, among others, strongly preferred.
Experience with technology integration strongly preferred.
Experience teaching in a remote learning environment is a plus.
Experience with S.T.E.A.M. curriculum and/or involvement with extracurricular S.T.E.A.M. activities is a plus.
Ability to independently oversee chemical storeroom and monitor compliance with OSHA regulations required.
A proven commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is required.
