Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions and Outreach
Summary of Responsibilities
The Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions and Outreach is an administrative position responsible for leading or supporting all aspects of the admissions process, including the strategic recruitment, admission, yield and retention of mission-appropriate students. The Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions and Outreach will work with the Director of Admissions K-8 and the Director of Enrollment Management and other members of the Admissions Team to help the School meet short- and long-term enrollment goals identified by School Leadership and the Board of Trustees.
The Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions and Outreach reports to the Director of Enrollment Management and is a member of the Admissions Team.
The Assistant/Associate Director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Promoting Hackley to prospective families on and off campus and virtually.
Conducting information sessions and interviews with applicants and their parents and working with the directors to craft new approaches for these events.
Standing in as head of the department when the directors are unavailable.
Developing relationships with feeder schools, outreach organizations, and consultants to yield mission-appropriate students from diverse backgrounds.
Coordinating key elements (faculty participation, student ambassadors, media, etc.) of admissions events.
Participating in Financial Aid Committee meetings.
Communicating promptly, effectively, and positively with families through all stages of the admissions process.
Reading applicant files and serving as a member of divisional Admissions Committees.
Creating, updating, and maintaining data tools to track office successes and growth opportunities.
Assisting and/or leading marketing efforts, including the development of print and web content and social media for various promotional uses.
Assisting and/or leading in developing, evaluating, and maintaining new and existing diversity, equity, and inclusion projects within the Admissions Office.
A bachelor's degree, Masters degree preferred, and minimum three years of relevant experience, preferably in independent school admissions.
A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, including Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, and Forms and Zoom Meetings and Webinars.
Experience with admissions databases, especially Veracross, preferred.
A desire to learn about and use technology.
Experience supporting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work in an educational setting.
Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin is a plus.
Experience with media creation software and social media platforms is a plus.
Willingness and ability to work nights and weekends, as needed.
