Brooks School seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic and creative Physics Teacher with the possibility of serving as Department Chair, if interested, for the 2020-2021 academic year.

The ideal candidate will have flexibility and willingness to teach Physics at all levels of the Science program including AP. This full-time faculty position will include teaching four sections (three if department chair) and contributing to the campus community by coaching or the equivalent, supporting the residential life program and being an advisor. 

The successful candidate will 

• Demonstrate passion and expertise in the teaching of Physics.
• Teach skills, knowledge, and scientific attitudes through physics courses.
• Combine critical thinking, reading, writing, and research in the curriculum and in instruction.
• Be well versed in multiple areas of science and science education.
• Be confident in the use of technology in the classroom to engage learners.
• Apply engaging and innovative student-centered teaching practices that adjust to meet varying student needs
• Possess a growth mindset in considering current pedagogical best practices and an understanding of adolescent development
• Implement best learning practices and keep updated with developments in the subject area, teaching resources and methods by engaging in conferences and other professional growth opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with the members of the department to develop courses that are consistent and coordinated across the science curriculum.
• Self-directed with a strong work ethic 
• Committed to school-wide initiatives, campus involvement, and the lives of our students outside of the classroom 
• A sense of humor with patience and empathy for adolescents
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and achievement. 

Responsibilities:

• Teaching four sections of Science, which may include, regular, honors, or AP (three sections if department chair)
• Advising four-six students (beginning year 2)
• Serve as a dorm parent with related duties
• Coach or the equivalent of two seasons in the afternoon program (one season if the department chair)
