River Oaks Baptist School is seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to join our team as a middle school Spanish teacher beginning August 2021. Because classes are taught exclusively in Spanish, native or near-native proficiency in Spanish is required.? Our Spanish program begins in fifth grade with a continuation of the Lower School program. In grades 6 and 7, students are presented a more formal Spanish language experience through one of two course paths. Students who have previously studied Spanish and have a foundational knowledge of the language take courses that divide Spanish I over a two-year period, followed by a complete Spanish II course in eighth grade. Students who are new to second language acquisition may take an introductory course followed by the courses that divide Spanish I over grades 7 and 8. The ideal candidate will have a passion for curriculum and Mind, Brain, and Education Science research. This position reports to the Head of Middle School. All middle school faculty are supported by an experienced divisional team devoted to developing both students and faculty, including the Instructional Coach, Counselor, Learning Specialist, Department Head, Assistant Head of Middle School, Head of Middle School, and Associate Head of School for Academics. As with all faculty openings, the School seeks candidates eager to support our mission of preparing students to meet life’s challenges and lead tomorrow’s world through a superior educational program ungirded by faith in Jesus Christ and Christian principles.
