We are currently seeking a Studio Arts Teacher for the Primary Division for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. This is a temporary position to cover for maternity leave, beginning on March 1st. Candidates should have prior experience in working with children K-5th.
Implement lessons in Art, which reflect knowledge of contemporary and historical art references, materials, and students’ interests and abilities. In some classes, projects will be ongoing, long-term projects related to classroom studies. In some classes, projects will be designed and implemented depending on the interests and schedule of the class.
Work with each section in grades K - 5, both onsite and online as determined by the School schedule
Design projects and prepare different materials for each session and class
Support ongoing project work
Document each class with notes and video/photo where appropriate
Communicate with classroom teaching teams as needed to discuss ongoing projects and individual student needs
Be able to evaluate students' performance, including academic, behavioral and social-emotional as needed, prepare narratives for the End of Year reports.
Participate in weekly co-curricular staff meeting
Promote respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion as a core value of the School, a shared responsibility in partnership with the school community
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of child development, best practices, and current trends in education.
Demonstrated classroom management skills, including time, space, and materials for most effective learning
A strong knowledge of contemporary and historical art references;
Experience in differentiated instruction
Creativity and innovation in both curriculum and instruction
Skilled in creating a learning environment that is challenging, motivating, and age-appropriate
Ability to integrate technology effectively into classroom instruction to enhance student learning
Adeptness and fluency with use of technology to deliver instruction and hold meetings with students, particularly in Zoom. Knowledge of Google Drive, Google Classroom and SeeSaw preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in art or art-education related field;
Master’s degree preferred;
3-5 years teaching experience in the Primary grades preferred.
