| Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a full-time French Teacher for the 2021-22 school year. Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum. Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83. Students at Calvert begin studying French in the lower school and continue their track of French language study as a core academic subject in middle school. Students will experience increased target language usage by the teacher and will deepen their knowledge of high-frequency regular verbs in the present tense. The teacher will be responsible for teaching French to students in Fifth and Sixth Grades and will also be responsible for managing the daily affairs of a classroom including parent education and communications, teacher collaborations, and other school-based duties and responsibilities. Teachers are also expected to contribute to the Calvert community as coaches, club advisors, and serve on school committees on occasion. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with prior experience teaching French to middle school age students in a school setting. A Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates must have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
