Upper School History/Social Studies Teacher

Teaching Responsibilities: We believe that good teachers set high standards for their students and then do everything they can to help them achieve those standards. The Benjamin School is looking for teachers who will help our students become self-directed, independent learners with superior academic collegiate skills. The ideal candidate will be able to incorporate multiple styles of teaching and use varied approaches to the students and material. This person must have a desire to work with students in a challenging, college-preparatory environment and should possess strong interpersonal and written communications skills. Qualified candidates should demonstrate a passion for history and the social studies, an intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, the ability to work within a team, skills to engage and inspire students in the pursuit of learning, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. The person filling this position should be comfortable teaching in the social sciences discipline, which may include but is not limited to world and U.S. history, economics, and government, for a variety of levels. In addition, there will be elective options, the specifics of which will depend on the individual talents that the candidate brings to Benjamin and the needs of the department.
