Cambridge Friends School is seeking applicants for an 8-week salaried Summer Program Teacher. The program start date is June 28, 2021 and will end on August 20, 2021. Program Teachers will also participate in training on June 25, 2021 and a closing day on August 23, 2021. Program hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Employment will hinge on local and government regulations as related to COVID-19 as well as necessary student registration.

The successful candidate should work well in a team of teachers to create a warm and dynamic classroom environment. This individual is responsible for managing the systems that serve and support the students enrolled in the CFS Summer Program. The Program Teacher will work alongside a second Program Teacher with a specific age group to carry out daily activities, ensure the safety and physical well-being of the children, ensure sanitary practice as related to COVID-19, maintain regular communication with parents, and contribute to the effective operation of the overall Summer Programs. Employees will complete daily tasks as assigned, follow policies and procedures of CFS as they relate to the Summer Program, attend weekly staff meetings, support the taking of daily attendance, and respect confidentiality of CFS Summer Program students and families.
The successful candidate will use pre-program and prep time to plan both long and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, making sure to support developmentally appropriate practice as well as program goals. They will also support the creation of a classroom environment that will serve children with diverse cultures, backgrounds, and family constellations.
Candidate should possess the following skills:
At least 1-3 years of experience working with children
Familiarity with program development and implementation
Commitment to collaborating and working as part of a larger Summer Program team
Commitment to the creation and sustainability of an inclusive, antiracist, antihomophobic, and equitable learning environment for all students
Maintain an organized classroom
Solve problems creatively with a ‘can do’ attitude
Be flexible and comfortable with shifts in planning and on-the-go thinking
