The Shipley School, founded in 1894, is a co-educational, college preparatory, independent day school currently enrolling 835 students in grades Pre-K through 12. Summary:

The Shipley School seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Lower School Substitute teacher. The candidate will have experience in the elementary education, hold a degree in a related field and possess a clear educational philosophy, which is consistent with the mission of the school

Responsibilities:

• Teaches content and skills in subject area utilizing curriculum designated by the school
• Maintains a discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school policies
• Implements lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate
• Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
• Organizes students for effective instruction
• Evaluates each student's progress in meeting the course standards.
• Completes a Substitute Teacher Report Form for the regular classroom teacher
• Administers testing in accordance with division testing practices.
• Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning, health and behavior problems
• Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities
• Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress
• Complies with and supports school regulations and policies
• Performs other related duties as assigned by division head
