Blue School seeks an experienced, collaborative 2nd grade teacher who brings intelligence, creativity and knowledge of the teaching of literacy and mathematics to the classroom. Blue school is committed to rich inquiry and project-based learning. We are looking for a teacher with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a 2nd grade teacher. The candidate should have an advanced degree and extensive experience in creating integrated studies based on children’s interests and questions. The 2nd grade teacher should have a solid understanding of all the components of balanced literacy and have the ability to teach a range of learners. The individual must be comfortable communicating with parents within a vital, growing learning community.

Job Description:

• Create an inquiry-based classroom environment where students’ ideas are central and content knowledge and skills are deepened through compelling questions and projects
• Commitment to pursuing a balance between academic mastery, creative thinking, and self and social learning for all students
• Work collaboratively and participate actively in faculty meetings and in professional learning teams
• Document practice in order to build a foundation for further refinement
• Continue to develop professionally to ensure student growth and development
• A deep appreciation for student?centered, engaging, and innovative teaching practices
• Communicate with students and their families regularly and proactively
• Commitment to the development of ELA units of study that incorporate racial literacy.
• Commitment to engaging in conversations of ongoing learning within DEI work that promotes respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion as a core value of the School.
• Engage in conversation of DEI work as a shared responsibility in partnership with the school community.

Qualifications:

• BA or BS Education Degree 
• Master’s Degree in Elementary Education

• Minimum of 3 years lead teacher experience
