McCallie seeks a dynamic, innovative, student-centered instructor of Spanish to serve in its Middle School. The World Languages Department at McCallie supports the active learning needs of boys in a program that stresses active participation and communication. Teachers engage boys in Spanish through speaking, listening, reading, and writing, using materials that are authentic to the culture of the language. Through a process of language immersion in the classroom, boys learn to communicate effectively in the target language. In the Middle School, our spanish teachers utilize a two year program, designed to introduce boys to the language and prepare them for more advanced study in the high school.
The teacher will also be involved in the school's extensive afternoon activity program, advising one of the many extracurricular activities, or coaching at the junior varsity or varsity level of a sport. There may be other duties as assigned.
