Westmark School is currently seeking a long-term substitute to start work in April 2021, an Upper School English Teacher. Our ideal candidate will possess the knowledge and passion for teaching students, preferably with language-based and attention learning differences, with the ability to organize and implement an instructional program that will capitalize on student strengths in accordance with the Westmark School mission. 

• Teaches high school English classes to students with language-based and attention learning differences.
• As a part of the Westmark Distance Learning Program, the ability and willingness to provide high quality synchronous instruction online.
• Provides high-level instruction to students with an established, specific English curriculum.
• Submits weekly lesson plans to the Curriculum Coordinator, Director of Upper School, and Instruction Coach.
• Serves as an Advisor to Grade 12 students by completing all advisory lessons as assigned by the Curricular Team, facilitating Student-Led Conferences, and providing case-management for each student in the advisory.
• As one of the periods assigned, leads the Capstone program by preparing students for their formal presentations before graduation.
• Coordinates and assists in the preparation of graduation speeches with the Director of Upper School.
• Integrates technology into the curriculum following best practices.
• Maintains class PowerSchool page by regularly updating and posting to the PowerSchool class grade book.
• Practices behavior management systems that are effective for students with language-based learning differences.
• Provides a positive environment that encourages students to actively participate in their own learning.
• Provides effective, timely and consistent communication with parents and the Upper School Director regarding student behavior, and academic concerns and progress.
• Models professional and ethical standards when interacting with students, parents, peers, and the school community.
• Works collaboratively with team members to develop new curricular offerings.
