Responsibilities:  

The master teacher should bring energy and passion for teaching Spanish to the Middle School World Language department. Other responsibilities and necessary competencies include the following:

• Exhibiting excellent teaching skills that demonstrate best practice according to ACTFL
• Teaching 5 classes; willingness to teach all levels in Middle School
• Understanding the development of middle-school students and displaying a passion for working with this age group
• Connecting with students, challenging them, and shifting pedagogical practice to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Collaborating with departmental colleagues across divisions to create vertical alignment of the Spanish curriculum
• Advising 10-14 students, facilitating the “Lead from Here” curriculum, and meeting with parents of advisees
• Working with grade-level colleagues to support students’ well-being and community goals
• Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, by establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff
• Growing professionally and exhibiting an enthusiasm for lifelong learning 
• Creating and promoting an inclusive learning environment and a sense of belonging in the classroom 
• Integrating technology effectively into classroom instruction
