Responsibilities

• Teach Reading, Writing, and Social Studies to middle schoolers (5th-8th) with rigor, purpose, and planning (STEAM and Design Thinking experience a plus)

• Prepare motivating and stimulating lessons that reflect knowledge of the subject matter, best practices, and child development.

• Employ a variety of teaching methods and differentiated instruction to engage different learning styles and ability levels in the classroom.
• Maintain accurate records of assessment
• Generate a classroom culture that is engaging, student-focused, and effectively managed.
• Encourage an inclusive classroom that accepts the different perspectives and backgrounds of the students and elicits a greater understanding of the world around them with a global perspective.
• Lead daily advisory with a small group of students with an emphasis on students’ academic, executive functioning skills. and social-emotional learning goals. 
• Effectively and consistently partner and communicate with parents, colleagues, and students.
• Participate in professional development, reflect on teaching, and be open to new ideas and innovative learning.
• Participate in school events and contribute to the school’s plan for growth
• Perform duties assigned when needed for the supervision of students
