Hershey Montessori School is seeking an energetic and dedicated Math Teacher for grades 9-12 to join our school starting August 2021. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching Upper School level math (Algebra through Calculus); enthusiasm for project-based teaching and integrated curriculum; a passion for both mental and physical work; willingness to take training in Montessori pedagogy; and a passion for working with adolescents in a community with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Teaches 3-4 preps in math
Design and implementation of appropriate, authentic assessments and support of individual students.
Advising of a small group of students (7-10)
Collaboration with other members of the faculty, administration and staff on experiential, interdisciplinary and community-based opportunities that add to the school community
Support of divisional and school-wide initiatives through committee work, where appropriate
Actively participates and/or supervises activities outside of the classroom
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in math-related field.
Master’s degrees preferred.
AMI Diploma or AMI Adolescent Certificate preferred
Willingness to become certified and invest time into professional development toward Montessori education is expected.
3 years of experience teaching high school level math subjects is a must.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Teaching project-based curriculum and integrated subjects is preferred.
A thorough understanding of best practices in teaching and commitment to teaching the whole child.
Support the school’s social, environmental, and entrepreneurial learning opportunities.
Ability and flexibility to use Microsoft Office Suite including the Teams collaboration tool, online meeting and conferencing applications, and operating audio/visual equipment.
