Summary:  Maintains the golf course, club grounds and related golf course equipment by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:

• Schedules, trains and supervises all employees assigned to the department. Maintains accurate work records for all employees in the department.

• Supervises all planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, trees and other facilities on the golf course.

• Selects and prepares proper fertilizers and nutrients for all flora and fauna.

• Develops and maintains drainage, irrigation and watering systems.

• Maintains course in proper playing condition.

• Implements and enforces a comprehensive safety program for employees, Members and guests on the golf course in compliance with local, state and federal laws.

• Communicates as necessary with Golf, Tennis and Wellness professionals to discuss conditions of the facilities, maintenance plans and scheduled events.

• Communicates as necessary with Grounds, Golf, Wellness, House and any other applicable Committees.

• Attends staff and management meetings, turf conferences, equipment shows, workshops and other educational programs to maintain a current knowledge of technical and turf innovations and changes that may affect the department’s operations.

• Conducts daily facility security checks ensuring accurate inventory of equipment and keys.

• Plans professional development and training activities for subordinates.

• Additional tasks assigned by the General Manager or Golf Course Superintendent.

Qualifications:

 Education/Experience:

• A turf degree, certificate or at least 3 years of experience working on a golf course is required
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Management experience in a private club environment is preferred.

 Certifications, Licenses:

• State of Florida “Restricted Use Pesticide” license (or obtain within 90 days of employment),
• Valid driver’s license
• CPR/First Aid preferred

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to understand, interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and operate; reach with hands and arms; and see, talk and hear.  The employee is frequently required to walk, bend, push, pullreach and occasionally lift and/or move 50lbs.

Work Environment:

Outside work for extended periods of time and precautions should be taken.

Additional Comments:

Must be at least 18 years old and be able to work weekends.
