Status: Full Time, Exempt Summary: The International Children’s Academy is searching for a multiple subject credentialed teacher to teach in a classroom between 2nd Grade, 3rd, and 4th Grades, with inquiry based teaching and learning strategies. There are two positions available. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES - Planning for instruction - small group and individual
- Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science as trans-disciplinary units of study
- Collaborate with single the subject teachers, IB coordinator and grade level teachers to plan IB units using the IB planning format
- Provide planned learning experiences in order to motivate students and best utilize the available time for instruction
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of each student
- Establish and maintain standard of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
- Create with students a functional and attractive environment for learning through visible thinking strategies use
- Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day
- Perform basic attendance accounting and business service as required
- Evaluate materials,technology, films, etc., for the purpose of seeing their relationship to the level of the pupil taught
- Teaching results - evaluation-recordkeeping
- Continually evaluate student’s academic and social growth, readjusting the teacher procedure to stimulate continuous progress
- Keep appropriate records of progress regarding strengths or weaknesses
- Write progress reports for each trimester
- Collect evidence of student success through pre, formative and summative assessment
- Select appropriate, hands on teaching materials
- Adapt, develop, and use multimedia materials for different learning styles or modalities by providing available resources
- Use visible thinking strategies
- Provide planned learning experiences in order to motivate students to investigate and inquire in search of more knowledge
- Provide individual or group instruction designed to meet individual needs
RELATIONSHIPS
- Establish a positive teacher-student rapport by maintaining a responsive environment for learning
- Develop consistent positive classroom management and working arrangement with students to develop good self-image
- Share in the sponsorship of student activities and participate in faculty meetings
- Cooperate with other staff members in planning units of study
- Communicate with parents through a variety of methods or means in order to develop a positive reinforcement of interest in student’s progress
- Meet with parents during parent-teacher conferences
- Impart school philosophy as need arises
- Present a positive teacher image to the community through school activities
- Follow school wide policies
PROFESSIONAL DISPOSITION
- Attend training to maintain International Baccalaureate certification as required
- Willingness to adapt to changing paradigms in education, and more specifically, International Baccalaureate
- Willingness to adapt to different personalities in team teaching experiences while maintaining professionalism
- Responsible for basic attendance accounting and other services as required
- Ensure a comfortable room environment for students through the utilization of resources, seating, and orderly material keeping
- Share in the sponsorship of student activities and participate on faculty meetings
- Plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, student teachers and other paraprofessionals as needed
*Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed. Qualifications Guide Training: A Bachelor’s Degree in an education related field and a multiple-subject teaching credential. A Master’s Degree in Education is preferred, but not required. Experience: At least three years teaching experience preferred. International Baccalaureate experience is desired.
