High School Theater Teacher For the 2021-2022 school year, the Urban School of San Francisco seeks a theater teacher to direct ensemble theater productions and to teach acting and other performing arts classes. The position is two-thirds time. Candidates should have at least three years’ experience teaching theater at the secondary level and extensive directing experience. The school is looking for an energetic, creative individual who has enthusiasm for working with high school students and a commitment to the continued growth of a dynamic theater program. Familiarity with appropriate digital tools and resources is also strongly desired. The successful candidate should be committed to innovative approaches to teaching, to collaborative curriculum development with colleagues, and to his/her continued professional growth. Applicants should possess both knowledge and experience with equitable and inclusive pedagogical and curricular practices, including anti-racist pedagogy and cultural humility. The candidate will become part of a team that will work collaboratively on productions. The theater teacher works with a part-time Technical Theater Director, who assists with all theatrical productions, as well as a Choral Music Director, who co-directs the annual musical production. Urban School strives to ignite a passion for learning and to inspire its students to become self-motivated, lifelong participants in their education and active citizens in their communities.
