The Clinical Trainer will review training materials ahead of classes to ensure they are aware of and up-to-date on system workflow changes, as well as Analysts and ET Principal Trainers to gain mastery of the revised content. They will partner with CDM program directors, clinical affairs and academic affairs to make sure the curriculum and patient workflows involving the EMR are appropriate for the unique needs of each groups of users.
The Clinical Trainer will work with CMIO, CDM IT team and ET analysts to optimize workflows in Epic specific to the needs of CDM. They will also work closely with human resources department and the Chief of Staff to ensure smooth onboarding experience of providers and staff. The incumbent will be the point for coordination and responsible party for onboarding of all epic users and users of CDM specific software.
He/she manages his or her own time to accomplish tasks with minimal oversight.
Leads classroom training for Epic end-users in the respective application(s), leveraging curricula developed by the EpicTogether project team or themselves. Facilitates lab-based educational sessions, including practice, personalization and simulation labs. Utilizes knowledge of and best practices in adult learning to convey information in a clear and compelling way, to ensure transfer of knowledge to training and lab participants. Leverages understanding of end-user needs, and actively seeks to understand impact, implications and nuances of implementation within departments to resolve issues and optimize the existing curriculum.
Responsible coordination of onboarding of all epic users and users of CDM specific software. Working with CDM human resources, academic program managers, faculty practice and clinical administration will ensure timely registration and onboarding of all users of the Epic system.
Maintains accurate record keeping in Saba Learning Management System, entering participants' final assessment scores and attendance information, also ensuring that classroom evaluations are completed. Will participate in the analysis of participant data to identify additional program needs, sessions to schedule, or areas of vulnerability for the organization.
Monitors and reports on training and simulation environment and or curriculum issues to the respective CDM IT team. Assesses and reports any challenges in program delivery or audience comprehension of subject matter. Proposes solutions to challenges in curriculum or other ways to improve and optimize participant experience and program efficacy.
Serves as a subject matter expert and point of contact for the training participants and CDM program directors and school leadership. Captures participant questions, and when needed, obtains additional information and clarity from Principal Trainers or other Epic SMEs, and reports back to participants. Builds trust and maintains strong working relationships with client stakeholders. Collaborates with EpicTogether team and departmental stakeholders at CDM to support Epic roll-out and ongoing remediation and new hire training.
Leads, reinforces and validates standard workflows and best practices at CDM during Epic Go-Lives and new hire training. Proactively identifies and reports any workflow or application issues to the EpicTogether project team.
Acts as a project advocate to generate enthusiasm and excitement for the new program. Articulates the value of the Epic platform to stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization, while prioritizing patient care and safety at all times.
Provides end user support via telephone, e-mail, screen sharing, and at-the-elbow assistance.
Documents issues with training and simulation environments, classroom technology, and training documentation into designated trackers.
May be asked to work outside of normal business hours depending on the assigned course schedule.
Performs other related duties as necessary.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in education and experience plus 4 years of related experience
Epic certified in Ambulatory, Cadence, Prelude and Wisdom
Working experience in the departments to which they will be delivering training
Completion of suite of Epic e-learning and instructor-led courses for assigned applications and validated workflows incumbent will be teaching within 6 months of hire
Credentialed as an Epic Trainer (85% minimum score on the Epic credentialing exam, and presentation of classroom based course material to a panel of EpicTogether leaders) within 6 months of hire.
Demonstrated understanding of principles of effective adult learning and teaching strategies
Proven understanding of the workflows from the EpicTogether implementation
Demonstrated oral and written communication and instructional skills
Ability to articulate, promote and reinforce institutional policies and procedures impacted by Epic implementation
