Glenview Park District at a glance The Glenview Park District (population 58,000+) is one of the premier park districts in Illinois. Located 20 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, Glenview Park District employs 110 full-time employees plus over 1,000 seasonal and part-time employees. The Park District has a $27 million operating budget plus a current capital budget of $5 million and debt service budget of approximately $4 million. The District enjoys a AAA bond rating from Moody’s Investor Services. The Glenview Park District has 26 parks encompassing over 850 acres of parkland. Numerous recreational facilities include a 170,000 square foot community center which features an indoor pool, full-service fitness facility, gymnasiums, senior center, preschool, dance and arts studios, banquet facilities, and several multipurpose rooms. The district has two outdoor pool complexes, a completely renovated indoor ice-skating complex, one 18-hole golf course with full-service restaurant/banquet facilities, a 9-hole golf course with paddle tennis courts, and indoor tennis facility. The district also features, the Grove outdoor history and nature museum, the historic Wagner Farm which includes an educational building showcasing green technology. The district has several field houses, outdoor tennis courts and ball fields among other facilities. Position overview The District is seeking a highly qualified Superintendent of Recreation and Museum Services to assist with the overall management of the District and in setting and communicating the District’s culture, goals, and priorities. The Superintendent of Recreation and Museum Services reports directly to the Executive Director, oversees an operating budget in excess of $10 million, while working closely with other Division Superintendents and seven elected Board members. The Superintendent of Recreation and Museum Services is directly responsible for overseeing and managing the Recreation and Museum Services division, which is one of four major divisions of the Park District. The Recreation and Museum Services division includes the Park Center community center, Schram Memorial Museum, all recreation programs and activities, two outdoor pool complexes and one indoor aquatics facility, the 150-acre Grove nature preserve, and the historic 18.8-acre Wagner Farm. The Superintendent of Recreation and Museum Services has direct supervisory responsibility for three department directors and indirect supervisory responsibility for additional 500 full-time staff and part-time staff. The Superintendent of Recreation and Museum Services is also responsible for the coordination of resources, projects, policies, and procedures within the division.
