Harvard-Westlake School, a coed, college preparatory, independent school in Los Angeles serving nearly 1600 students in grades 7-12, seeks to hire an exceptional and highly qualified individual for a full-time teaching position in the science department at the Upper School (grades 10-12). The applicant will work on a team with 2-4 instructors teaching different levels of physics to juniors and seniors. Potential course assignments include Physics 1, Honors Physics 1/2, AP Physics C, and the potential for electives depending on the applicant’s interests and background.

BA Physics, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Astrophysics, Engineering, or similar. Additional coursework/advanced degree in science or education a plus.
Demonstrated ability to communicate concepts in a clear and concise manner, and to foster an innovative and creative learning environment.
Strong collaboration skills and a willingness to work with colleagues in creating, developing, and implementing science curricula.
Ideal candidates will be excited by becoming part of our vibrant school community, broadly engaging with students and colleagues, and occasionally attending events outside their particular field of study.
Ability to teach physics is primary; flexibility to teach other disciplines in science is a plus. Some teaching experience preferred.
The science department provides students with opportunities to develop their skills in laboratory to discover, explore, and analyze while working cooperatively with their peers. Experience with curriculum in laboratory is preferred.
Salary commensurate with experience.
This position is full-time starting in the 2021-22 school year.
