POSITION: PART-TIME EARLY CHILDHOOD (EC-2) CLASSROOM TEACHER

START DATE: AUGUST 15, 2021 

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF PRIMARY SCHOOL 

CLASSIFICATION: PART TIME (50%) M-F 8:00AM-12:00PM

 COMPENSATION: COMPETITIVE WITH AREA INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS 

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Old Trail School is seeking a passionate and innovative educator to serve as a Lead Teacher in our ECP 2 Day classroom. Our ideal candidate will value both play-based curriculum, enjoy working with two-year olds, have a  strong understanding of this developmental stage and have a background in the Reggio Emilia approach to education. It is the expectation that the candidate will ensure the safety and well-being of each child  by responding to their physical, social-emotional, and educational needs. The lead teacher will collaborate with a co-teacher to create an enriching classroom environment and engaging curriculum to nurture students in play-based lessons that stimulate their developmental growth. The  candidate will be expected to be a role model for the School’s core values: Respect, Responsibility,  Goodness, and Service. 

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in Education or an appropriate field.  Applicants should have 1-2 years of teaching experience, either in the classroom or in non-traditional  educational settings (camps, outdoor centers, etc.) They should have awareness and professional  knowledge of early literacy and math, Reggio Emilia approach, project/problem-based learning, and  child development. Most importantly, applicants should have a love of working with children, in a  collaborative, upbeat, and positive environment.
