ISB seeks a Full Time Learning Support Teacher (4th-8th Grades) for the 2021-2022 School Year and Beyond
The Learning Support Teacher works closely with the Coordinator of Support Services, faculty, and the administrative team. The teacher supports both Lower and Middle School students with academic support, learning strategies, organization, and study skills, and serves as a resource for faculty. Note: there is a potential for a supervisory role for an experienced candidate.
Candidates should enjoy creating differentiated learning experiences designed to nurture the development of the whole child; enjoy a strong collaborative work environment; enjoy using a wide array of resources to build rich inquiry and learning experiences; have experience integrating multiple approaches to ensure various learning styles are well supported. The role requires both push-in and pull-out support work, and candidates should have experience conducting this work both on campus and in a distance learning context.
Educational Background and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
At least two years of experience as a learning specialist or in a related role.
Ability to support students with math/English/social studies skills from upper elementary through all middle school grades.
Familiarity with legal responsibilities of independent schools related to IEP and 504 plans.
Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, admin, and parents.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing with faculty, administration, and parents.
