Bullis School seeks a 2^nd Grade Homeroom Teacher beginning academic year 2021-2022 to contribute to our vibrant learning community. Candidates should be capable of teaching a wide range of students, with a specific focus on the development and implementation of a robust and engaging curriculum in language arts, mathematics, and social studies to a homeroom group of up to 12 second grade students.

Lower School Homeroom teachers develop and implement curriculum, evaluate student work using grades and comments, and communicate student progress with parents. Teachers create the conditions for discovery both inside and outside of the classroom supporting and encouraging students to take risks, collaborate and explore. Successful Lower School teachers at Bullis are committed to ongoing professional development and a wide range of teaching approaches to reach a diverse student population. Qualified candidates should possess the following education & experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or related field (required)

• Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or related field (preferred)

• Minimum of two years prior teaching experience

• Commitment to using professional role to further the creation of an equitable and inclusive school community

• Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment

• Flexible approach to learning, particularly regarding new technology systems and hardware

• Experience with Responsive Classroom, Singapore Math or similar math curriculum, Readers and Writers Workshop preferred

• Experience with Accelerated Reader and iPad integration technology (preferred)

• Detail-oriented, with the capacity to effectively and efficiently manage numerous small and large tasks

• Proficiency with basic productivity and media software

• Proficiency with Windows and Apple OS, Microsoft Office, cloud computing (Google Docs, etc.), and other productivity and media software

• Working knowledge of technology systems, including networks and hardware management

• Teaching certificates are not required
