COMPETENCIES Developmental Awareness - Understanding of developmental needs of children Promote Empathy and Respect - Ability to stimulate students’ interests in others – past and present – and heighten their appreciation of diversity in all forms. Grounded in Justice - Commitment to help create an anti-bias and equitable community and society. Consistently demonstrate knowledge of antiracist and social and emotional teaching practices. RESPONSIBILITIES Actively teach engaging and motivating reading. lessons to students identified as needing support or enrichment. Work collaboratively with the Dean of Curriculum and grade/subject level teachers to design, implement, and evaluate curriculum. Design and document curriculum using principles of backwards design. Turn in weekly lesson plans to the Dean of Curriculum. Meet regularly with members of the Educational Leadership Team to receive feedback and mentorship. Collaborate with teachers and student support teams to monitor, assess, and document students’ academic and social emotional progress. Communicate standards, achievements, and areas of concern to students and parents. Meet and communicate with parents both formally and informally (email, phone calls, conferences, and written Mid and End-of-Year Reports). Transition students to and from classes. Monitor students during additional part-time duties such as snack, lunch, or during Zoom classes. Attend grade level, staff, and professional development meetings.
