Science Teacher
Franklin Academy
A Science Teacher at Franklin may teach on a team with a content curriculum that follows one of three tracks. The first track is an Earth Science/Biology/Conceptual Physics cycle that rotates annually. This track serves our 8th, 9th, and 10th-grade students, who are often taught in mixed-grade classes. The second track is Chemistry that serves our 11th-grade students. The third track is for our seniors and postgraduates to whom we offer a choice of several advanced or interest-based sciences, depending on the year, including Marine Sciences, Genetics, Psychology, Ecology, and Health Sciences. In all science courses, focused instruction is centered around a skills-based curriculum based on inquiry and scientific practices across content areas. Teaching science at Franklin Academy requires teaching the basic curriculum of all tracks as assignments may change across years. In addition to being open/able to teach on any track, we primarily seek a candidate to teach the first track. This participation includes serving as a member of a teaching team (consisting of six to seven professional educators) that designs and implements a comprehensive program for a group of eighteen to twenty-six students.
