The Peck School, a K-8, independent school in Morristown, NJ, is currently seeking an energetic, passionate, and creative music teacher to lead our middle school music program. This individual is charged with cultivating a love of music in all students and inspiring a joyful culture of participation both in the classroom and on the stage.
At its core this position focuses on general and choral music instruction in grades 5 through 8, as well as leading a middle school musical and school-wide music performances. The ideal candidate will incorporate a wide range of instruments into daily instruction, as well as singing, and movement. Familiarity and training with Orff or Kodaly is strongly preferred. In addition to the above responsibilities, this position will also include either the administration of drama classes and an Eighth Grade play or direction of a middle school instrumental program.
All candidates should have a minimum of three years experience teaching music, as well as exceptional communication skills (both oral and written). Significant recent professional development and knowledge of best practices in music education is essential. A background or degree in music education is required and a master’s degree is preferred.
