While a bachelor’s degree is required, a master’s degree is preferred. North Shore is eager to consider applications from groups traditionally underrepresented in independent school communities.
The goal of our science program is to empower students to make meaningful connections between theoretical scientific knowledge and the natural world outside of our classrooms. We seek candidates with three or more years of experience; demonstrated passion and talent in engaging students in process-oriented and laboratory-based science curriculum; and a commitment to working collaboratively as part of our Middle School and Science Department The individual in the position will also be tasked with helping to coordinate and coach for our Science Olympiad program.
Because North Shore has a 1:1 iPad program 6th-12th, candidates should be skilled integrators of 21st century technology into their teaching practice, particularly in the context of data collection, analysis, and communication of scientific findings.
Ideal candidates will be believers and cultivators of the ‘growth mindset,’ excellent written and oral communicators, highly collaborative and valued colleagues, and life-long learners who are committed to their own ongoing professional development and that of others. We seek candidates who have invested in growing their intercultural competencies and whose work – inside and outside the classroom - reflect those competencies.
