Lower School Assistant Teacher
North Shore Country Day
North Shore Country Day, a progressive, academically rigorous, co-ed, JK-12 independent school near Chicago, seeks candidates for one or more lower school assistant teacher openings beginning at the start of the 2021-2022 academic year. Each new staff member will be assigned to either the 1st and 2nd Grade classes, the 3rd and 4th Grade classes, or the 5th Grade Classes.
Candidates should be at the start of their teaching career and have a desire to support, work collaboratively with and be mentored by experienced educators. Additionally, we seek candidates who have a demonstrable passion for the development of lower school age students as individuals and learners. A bachelor’s degree is required. North Shore is eager to consider applications from groups traditionally underrepresented in independent school communities.
The role will include assisting in both homerooms (instructional areas include literacy, mathematics, and social studies as well as the social/emotional curriculum) and supporting the work of the lead teachers and the broader school through other duties such as covering recess and lunch duties, coaching, and advising a co-curricular program.
