About St. Richard's Episcopal School
When St. Richard’s Episcopal School opened its doors in 1960 at 33rd and Meridian Streets, it welcomed a single kindergarten class of 18 students. The school started as the first integrated independent school in Indianapolis and today continues that welcoming community with a racially, socially, religiously, and ethnically diverse student body of around 300 students. The school strives for academic excellence through its classic curriculum with innovative teaching methods; it also provides preparation and knowledge in areas such as faith, leadership, civic responsibility, and global readiness.
St. Richard’s offers a rigorous academic curriculum, three world languages, public speaking and leadership opportunities, a strong fine arts program and organized athletics for continued lifetime success. Forming students of outstanding scholastic achievement and noble character continues to be the hallmark of St. Richard’s Episcopal School.
