Description of the Position The Co-Lead Teacher is responsible for teaching, learning, observations, documentation, research, and communication within the Growing Place organization. The candidate is expected to collaborate within their teaching team along with other fellow colleagues. This position requires a candidate to be a critical thinker, reflective, communicative, curious, inclusive, and professional; the candidate knows how to work with children in a developmentally appropriate manner with a social constructivist approach and fulfills Growing Place’s mission, philosophy, and pedagogy.
Responsibilities and Duties Teaching and Learning (70%)

Program Description The Growing Place is a non-profit organization that serves children ages 3 months through 5 years old. We use a social constructivist approach to working with teachers, children, and families; in partnership with Reggio Emilia children in order to use best practices from their school systems in our context. We fundamentally view children as competent, resilient, and curious individuals; teachers as researchers, facilitators, and collaborators of learning for children and adults; parents as authentic partners.
Organizational Overview There are three Growing Place campuses - Ocean Park, Marine Park, and Santa Monica Early Childhood Lab School (operated by The Growing Place). At Ocean Park, we serve children ages 2.5 to 5 years old; at Marine Park, we serve children 3 months to 5 years old; and the Lab School will include infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.

Additional Salary Information: Benefits: 4 Weeks Paid Vacation/School Closure 9 Paid National/State Holidays New full-time employees who start at the beginning of a school year receive 72 Hours of Paid Sick Leave (PSL) at the start of that school year which can be used after their 90-day probationary period is complete. New full-time employees who start during a school year accrue PSL at the rate of 1 hour for every 30 worked. At the end of each school year, any unused PSL will be rolled over to the next school year as Paid Time Off (PTO) to be capped at 108 hours.
