Music Teacher - Grades Early Childhood - 4th Grade

The ideal candidate would be an important member of a dedicated team of educators who collaborate in developing the Lower Division Music curriculum while fostering a love for music to students in Preschool through Fourth Grade. The Music Teacher should enjoy collaborating with colleagues and engaging in the entire Lower Division Music program. In addition, the Music Teacher supports the Middle School’s Spring musical.
POSITION:LOWER DIVISION MUSIC TEACHER
REPORTS TO:PRINCIPAL, GRADES, PS-4
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and foster a love of music in students while teaching the fundamental skills of music.
Be willing to collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular learning experiences.
Develop a curriculum that reflects the School’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Work with the School Chaplain to plan and assist at Early Childhood and Lower School Chapels, and help with the planning for liturgical services including K-8 Eucharists.
Plan, organize, and provide music performances in the Lower Division.
Be able to cantor/lead the singing at K-8, Early Childhood, and Lower School Chapels.
Communicate with families about student progress.
Create and implement virtual and digital performances as needed.
Perform other supervisory duties as required of all Lower School teachers: such as recess, lunch, or morning/afternoon supervision.
Communicate with parents, colleagues, and the Principal regarding students’ behaviors, academic concerns, and academic progress.
Have effective classroom management skills.
Prepare the Lower School students for participation in the Graduation ceremony and liaise with the Middle School Music Teacher to lead the music portion of the ceremony.
Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the community.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is an exempt position. Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes, but not limited to medical, life, dental insurance, and retirement plan.
All school personnel must successfully complete a fingerprint background check through Live Scan and provide current tuberculosis clearance.
Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, Master’s Degree in Music Education preferred
A Multiple or Clear California Teaching Credential
Classroom teaching experience, preferably in teaching General Music to elementary school students.
Keyboards skills sufficient to accompany student performances.
Vocal skills and vocal pedagogy knowledge to lead Lower School Chorus
Experience with technology, specifically iPads, Macs, SMART Technologies, and Finale.
Strong organization and time-management skills.
Strong desire to be part of a collaborative team.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
