St. Andrew's Episcopal School is seeking a full time, innovative, collaborative and knowledgeable fifth grade history and humanities teacher with responsibilities to begin in August 2021. Preferred candidates will be enthusiastic and passionate about teaching fifth graders in a progressive learning community, with a professional orientation for daily collaborative work, team communication and continued professional development. This position not only includes the core content of World History from Paleolithic peoples to early civilizations, but it also focuses on research, analysis-based writing, and projects throughout the school year. Additional duties as homeroom teacher and advisor are also expected. The ideal candidate is an accomplished teacher with student-centered pedagogy and social justice orientation, experience with project-based learning, a strong ability to connect with elementary-aged students, and expertise in planning field trips and experiential learning opportunities. Finalists will be confident and experienced in writing history and humanities curricula, adept with transformative technology integration skills and strategies, and have experience with social-emotional learning skills, strategies and philosophies. Preferred candidates will have a relevant degree in History, Social Studies education, English, or elementary education.
