Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Upper School Dance Teacher. The ideal candidate will possess a background in dance performance and pedagogy, practical experience teaching a wide variety of dance styles to mixed-level classes, and experience setting high-level, performance-ready choreography. We seek an artist with a passion for engaging with students; strong communication and collaboration skills; and excellent organizational and time management skills. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Teach four classes (Advanced Dance; Grade 9-12 Dance) that include technical skill development, repertoire, choreographic tools, dance history, and performance techniques.
Assist with the planning for the Annual Spring Dance Concert and Afternoon of Student Choreography.
Choreograph and teach choreography for the Upper School Musical.
Choreograph and costume at least two performance pieces per class in preparation for the annual Spring Dance Concert.
Maintain accurate grades, effectively and supportively communicate with students and families, and provide written and oral feedback on student progress consistently throughout the school year.
Attend and contribute to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to departmental, committee, divisional, and grade-level meetings.
