| The Middle School Math Program begins with the Math in Focus curriculum for 5th and 6th grades and ends with an integrated Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 for 7th and 8th grades. Emphasis is placed on cooperative learning activities, inquiry-based lessons, and problem solving. Most students complete Algebra 1 by the end of their 8th Grade year. The Math teacher collaborates with other middle school faculty to create and facilitate interdisciplinary and project-based learning opportunities. We are seeking a full-time experienced Middle School Math teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience planning an integrated mathematics curriculum, is committed to challenging students of all levels academically, and understands the social and emotional growth and development of Middle School aged children. Duties and Responsibilities - Demonstrates strong classroom management skills
- Is responsible for ongoing assessment and communication of students’ progress with families including parent conferences and ongoing feedback
- Establishes positive and productive relationships with students based on mutual respect and from an equitable perspective
- Uses a variety of teaching techniques suitable to the developmental age and needs of the students
- Ensures that inclusive themes and diverse perspectives are incorporated throughout the curriculum
- Provides differentiated instruction and is comfortable with student led learning
- Uses a variety of technology formats to collaborate, publish, and engage with peers, colleagues, and families
- Attends faculty meetings, school events, pursues professional development opportunities, and contributes to committees on campus
- Serve as an Advisor to Middle School students
- Assists with additional duties as needed or assigned including recess, dismissal, lunch, clubs, sports
- Meets all expectations regarding job responsibilities in a professional and timely manner
- Models ethical and professional behavior
