Trinity School, a co-educational, K-12 institution located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, seeks a half-time Middle School Vocal Music Teacher (Grades 5 and 6), beginning September 2021.
Major responsibilities of the position include: teaching fifth and sixth grade vocal and general music classes, preparing students to perform in two evening concerts, and occasional chapel and community time performances.
Qualified candidates will be dedicated, skilled music educators with a demonstrated expertise in teaching vocal music to Middle School-aged students. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in music education or performance is preferred. A strong background in vocal pedagogy is required. Piano, guitar, and music technology skills are a plus. The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional understanding of student learning needs, strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, a passion for middle school students, a commitment to an equitable classroom culture inclusive of varied student experiences, an awareness of how race, gender, and other aspects of identity manifest themselves in the classroom, an ability to work cooperatively and generously with colleagues, a commitment to ongoing professional development, an eagerness to build community both within the school and with community partners, and a sense of humor.
