We seek an educator who is open and reflective, team-oriented, curious, and improvisational. Primary teachers receive extensive support and professional development within a community of eager and engaged adult learners. This is a short term assignment to fill in for a temporary leave.
Create an inquiry-based classroom environment where students’ ideas are central and content knowledge and skills are deepened through compelling questions and projects
Commitment to pursuing a balance between academic mastery, creative thinking, and self and social learning for all students
Work collaboratively and participate actively in faculty meetings and in professional learning teams
Document practice in order to build a foundation for further refinement
Continue to develop professionally to ensure student growth and development
A deep appreciation for student-centered, engaging, and innovative teaching practices
Communicate with students and their families regularly and proactively
Commitment to the development of ELA units of study that incorporate racial literacy.
Commitment to engaging in conversations of ongoing learning within DEI work that promotes respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion as a core value of the School.
Engage in conversation of DEI work as a shared responsibility in partnership with the school community.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of independent school culture and functioning
Adeptness and fluency with use of technology to deliver instruction and hold meetings with students, particularly in Zoom
An openness to continued learning about remote and onsite teaching
Experience with Responsive Classroom techniques
Team-oriented and collaborative
Strategic, flexible, and creative thinker
Excited to be part of a growing school
Flexibility to integrate new practices and confidence to take risks
Sense of humor
BA or BS Education Degree
Master’s Degree in Elementary Education
Minimum of 3 years experience
