The Lafayette Catholic School System has an opening for a Principal beginning in June of 2021 at Central Catholic Jr.-Sr. High School. Central Catholic serves 412 students in grades 7 - 12. Central Catholic is seeking a visionary Principal to sustain a tradition of academic excellence within a Catholic environment. The successful candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church, hold a Master’s Degree in Education Administration and have administrative experience. The Principal reports to the LCSS Executive Director. The Principal is responsible for implementing the policies of LCSS and the Indiana State Department of Education. The Principal is expected to provide spiritual, educational, and professional leadership to the school community.
The Principal focuses on the spiritual formation and faith development of students and staff.
Conduct one’s personal and professional life consistent with Gospel values, life of prayer, service, and active parish participation
Create and sustain a faith community through prayer, liturgy, and Catholic spiritual traditions
Oversee the implementation of National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools
Provide spiritual enrichment opportunities, for teachers and staff members
Establish positive working relationships with pastors, school personnel, students, parents, Board of Directors, Trustees, and community members
The Principal focuses on the academic formation and advancement of students and staff members.
Manage and facilitate the process for AdvancEd Accreditation
Place and assign staff to meet the needs of students and the school community
Develop and implement a professional development program for all staff
Collaborate with staff members concerning the implementation of Indiana Department of Education Academic Standards
Facilitate communication and instructional decision-making among staff members
Encourage instructional strategies and techniques that meet the students’ diverse needs
Implement required assessments as mandated by the Indiana Department of Education and the Diocese of Lafayette
Analyze assessment data to determine curricular and instructional direction
Provide supervision of students and promote student responsibility in an organized and disciplined environment
Facilitate an atmosphere conducive to teaching and learning
The Principal focuses on developing and challenging a highly-qualified and professional staff. The Principal communicates the mission and vision of the school to stakeholders.
Supervise all teachers and staff, including the leadership team consisting of the Athletic Director, Guidance Director, Campus Ministry Director, and Assistant Principal
Follow the diocesan policies as stated in the Administrative Handbook
Reprimand or terminate personnel in consultation with the LCSS Executive Director and Director of the Pastoral Office for Education
Conduct informal and formal observations of all staff members
Practice a collaborative leadership style including appropriate confidentiality and effective communication to all stakeholders
Develop and monitor the school budget in conjunction with the Executive Director and Finance Director
Use feedback from all stakeholders to improve student achievement and overall effectiveness of the school
Master’s degree in Education Administration
Prior school administration experience
Skilled in job appropriate technology, critical thinking, planning, and a demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
