Princeton Charter School provides its diverse student body with the best possible education by focusing on the fundamental academic disciplines in an atmosphere that affirms academic achievement.
Our students acquire a strong foundation in mathematical reasoning skills through a rigorous curriculum. For instruction in math our middle school students are grouped by ability, with classes ranging from small-group extra support classes to accelerated honors classes. Mathematics is one of the cornerstones of the PCS education.
We divide the 50 students at each grade 5-8, into four separate groups based on aptitude and experience. This 1:12.5 ratio, small class structure allows us to challenge and support students at all levels. In addition, we ensure that students have 60 minutes of math every day. All students complete Algebra I at the end of 8th grade with one section completing Algebra I in one year in 7th grade and then geometry in 8th grade. A small group of accelerated students will complete Algebra II in addition to geometry.
Teaching at Princeton Charter School is an ideal position for an educator with a deep passion for instruction who is eager to continue to perfect the craft of teaching mathematics. Besides participating in weekly department meetings, teachers receive consistent coaching and feedback from school administrators, mentors, and fellow teachers.
Qualified candidates will have experience teaching math at the middle school level. Our math teachers typically teach a class in each of the grades, from grade 5 through grade 8. Candidates will not only enjoy teaching at the middle school level, but will value an environment of support and cooperation with fellow math teachers, administration, and parents.
In addition to teaching experience, qualified candidates must meet the Charter School teacher certification requirements outlined by the New Jersey Department of Education. We realize that the process is daunting and we will work with qualified candidates to obtain their certification. See https://nj.gov/education/license/.
Additional Salary Information: In addition to salary, full time faculty and staff are eligible for medical benefits and pensions.
