This position teaches 4 sections of 8th grade middle school English as well as co-advises a group of students in a homeroom setting. We seek teachers who are interested in a dynamic relationship with students as well as their colleagues based in positivity and collegiality.
This position requires use of a variety of teaching methods to support different learning styles, academic abilities, and have successful experience teaching English. Applicants should demonstrate excitement in helping all students build self-confidence, identity formation, and a love of reading and writing through exploration and discovery. Culturally competent and responsive teaching approaches are required.

BA or BS in English, education, or related field required
MA, MS, or MAT in English or related field and/or related experience preferable
Demonstrated experience with adolescents is required
At least two years demonstrated effective English teaching experience preferable
Experience in curriculum development is a plus
Experience with Understanding by Design instructional planning a plus
Use of internet, e-mail, and other appropriate technology applications is essential
Understanding and experience with student-centered teaching, project-based learning, and performance-based assessment is preferable
