Kents Hill School is one of the oldest co-ed boarding schools in the country, located on 400 beautiful acres in Maine. This position, with a start date of August 15, 2021, will have the opportunity to lead a strong Humanities Division, composed of English, Social Studies, and World Languages. This position will work closely with a talented group of Department Chairs to provide inspiration, support, guidance, mentorship, and clear expectations to all members of the Humanities faculty; will serve as a leader in curriculum and pedagogy and ensure that the Humanities division consistently works towards community, innovation, accountability, and growth; and will oversee the Humanities curriculum to ensure continuity and connectivity in all Humanities offerings. This position will also teach four English courses, participate in one-afternoon activity, advise a small group of students, and participate in both weekend and weekday duty.

Work with the Humanities Department Chairs to create a positive faculty culture focused equally on growth and support
Partner closely with the STEAM Division Head to promote opportunities for cross-discipline curriculum development and collaboration
Value and model collegial collaboration, feedback, and self-reflection as a means for growth
Effectively and clearly communicate with multiple audiences and stakeholders
Be knowledgeable about best practices within the world of Humanities and able to provide training and support for both new and experienced teachers
Understand the challenges and opportunities for a boarding school faculty member
Be excited to address cultural competency in all aspects of teaching, from curricular development to classroom environment
Think broadly and innovatively, including through an equity lens, about curriculum and pedagogy
Recognize the value in ongoing professional development and approach teaching from a growth-mindset
Have an understanding of all aspects of the 4D teaching model and have experience incorporating reflection, skill development, character, and knowledge into their own teaching
Be committed to the entire student experience and want to engage with students both inside and outside of the classroom
Have significant experience, at least eight years, in secondary education, including at a Department Chair level
Be able to teach high-level English courses, including at the AP level
Possess a relevant advanced degree
