San Diego Jewish Academy, an independent college prep K-12 school, seeks general studies classroom teachers at several grade levels: K, 2, 3 and 5. Our general studies classroom teachers teach English language arts, math, social studies and SEL. This position requires a high level of initiative, independent decision-making, collaboration and teamwork, strong classroom management skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to administer a variety of assessments, and ability to interpret and use data to inform instruction. Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to team openly with others is a must. Strong candidates will have had great success meeting the needs of a wide range of children, including English language learners, special needs and gifted. We seek to hire someone who is child-centered, passionate about teaching and learning, and who is willing to take risks. Training in and experience with Responsive Classroom, Guided Reading, Daily 5, Writer’s Workshop, Singapore Math, Orton-Gillingham, interdisciplinary teaching and Jewish studies is a plus. Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
