The Le?man Manhattan Preparatory School, an independent International school located in Manhattan’s Financial District, seeks a highly qualified, motivated Visual Arts educator to teach Lower School and Early Childhood Art classes. This is a full-time position that will begin in late August 2021.
The school seeks candidates who will offer an engaging and challenging Visual Arts program for Lower School and Early Childhood students which incorporates a wide variety of artistic media, including woodworking.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to anti-bias and anti-racism work and to fostering an inclusive learning community. Incorporating multiple and various perspectives into units and lessons is expected.
Teaching Visual Art classes to students in grades PK – 5
Maintaining art displays in the Lower School building
Producing an annual exhibition
Being a collaborative, contributing team member of the Fine Arts Department as well as
the Lower School and Early Childhood divisions
Supporting and sponsoring activities/events outside of the typical school day
Growing professionally in order to meet the changing responsibilities of the position
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred; Art Education degree preferred
Experience in teaching elementary and early childhood students in a school setting
Experience in teaching a variety of media; woodworking experience is a plus
Experience in using technology in the art classroom
Familiarity with curriculum design
Ability to work well individually and as part of a team
Excellent interpersonal skills
