The Harley School seeks a full-time Upper School history teacher to start in September of 2021. Primary responsibility is for teaching five sections of history to students in grades 9-12. Courses may include Global Studies, Cold War, World Wars, AP US Government, and Philosophy. Additional expectations include—but are not limited to—academic advising, chaperoning, extracurricular mentoring and supervision, and committee work.
The ideal candidate should:
Be passionate about teaching, history, and current events;
Possess an appropriate undergraduate degree (Master’s preferred);
Have teaching experience, either at the secondary or college level;
Be familiar with independent school culture;
Promote and welcome open, dynamic, and critical discussions to engage students in a meaningful study of our past, present and future.
