The Baldwin School, a PreK-12 all-girls’ school in the suburbs of Philadelphia, seeks an Upper School Mathematics teacher. She/He will support the school’s mission and will teach four-five sections of Math in grades 9-12, serve as a student advisor, contribute to co-curricular programs, participate in faculty meetings and committees, and engage in other duties typical of independent day school life. We seek a candidate with enthusiasm for ongoing curricular development and interdisciplinary work, all in a collaborative environment. The position requires experience integrating academic technology tools and using digital platforms to enhance learning. An appreciation for and/or an understanding of best practices in girls’ education is a valuable asset for incoming candidates. In addition, candidates with the ability to teach electives such as economics, statistics, higher level math, or other interdisciplinary areas of math instruction will be strongly considered. Design learning experiences that integrate student input
Differentiate instruction and materials to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students.
Assess student progress and adjust teaching plans accordingly; provide students with regular and timely feedback about their progress.
Create and regularly update a digital classroom page, using our learning management system (LMS), as a primary means of communicating classroom activities to families.
Collaborate with department colleagues to ensure a cohesive learning trajectory
Collaborate with colleagues in other content areas to design interdisciplinary and project-based learning experiences.
Communication: Maintain an ongoing dialogue with parents about student progress, through emails, phone calls, report-writing and in-person conferences; maintain strong communication with colleagues, families, and administration.
Other duties as assigned.
M.A. in Mathematics or other relevant field.
Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in the discipline, preferably at the Upper School level, including experience teaching calculus and other higher level math courses.
In addition to expertise in course content, the successful candidate will have experience differentiating instruction and assessment.
