Our Upper School is seeking a French Teacher for our 9th-12th grade students. The French Teacher teaches novice through advanced French in a secondary school setting to facilitate students attaining competency to speak and write in the French language. Working with adolescents both inside and outside the classroom the French teacher also assists in development of an appreciation of French culture. The teacher designs learning experiences to help students build self-confidence through practice. The French Teacher is expected to provide proficiency-driven instruction, project-based learning and be well-versed in current technology to support language learning.

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in French, French literature, or linguistics.
Two years’ teaching experience, preferably with high school students
Native or near native fluency in French since classes are predominantly conducted in target language.
Efficient at using technology (familiarity with learning management systems, managing audio/video files for instruction and assessment, Google Education suite, etc.) as teaching tools
Knowledge of cultural perspectives, products and practices of French speaking communities
Experience with proficiency-driven curriculum design and familiarity with the ACTFL framework (world-readiness standards, proficiency guidelines, performance descriptors, can-do statements and 21st-century skills). Any ACTFL-sponsored training or certification is highly desirable (OPI, WPT, AAPPL).
