Position Summary Work in coordination with the Director of Admissions to strategically plan and execute various activities to actively recruit and enroll students to one of the Humphrey School’s various degree programs, including: recruitment planning, implementation and oversight, application review and selection, and financial aid strategy and implementation. This position also acts as a representative of the School through professional organizations, networks, and to internal /external stakeholders. This position will work primarily with prospective students from assigned master’s degree programs. Duties/ Responsibilities Recruitment (35%) Oversee and participate in the development and implementation of annual recruitment planning and diversity outreach in conjunction with the Admissions Director. This includes building Humphrey School awareness, reputation, and nurturing relationships with stakeholders, recruiting events, diversity and inclusion outreach, and collaboration with faculty. - Initiates, defines, and manages projects to enhance and expand current programs.
- Oversight of recruitment and inquiry conversion for assigned master’s programs.
- Plans and participates in recruitment and yield events (i.e., Fall Preview, Spring Visit Day, etc.) with Admissions Program Manager (in consultation with Director)
- Leads Information Sessions: Delivering public presentations designed to promote The Humphrey School for assigned region or programs. In-person and virtual.
- Meets with prospective and admitted students in one-on-one and group settings to provide program information and admissions-related counseling.
- Builds Humphrey School awareness and reputation at recruitment events, locally and nationally (some evening and weekend travel is required throughout the year)
- Leads high profile recruitment and pipeline events. (i.e., Graduate School Fairs, Public Service Weekend, etc.)
Application Review and Selection (35%) Create and implement a full cycle admission strategy which results in the enrollment of a competitive and diverse class across degree programs. This includes: timeline development, implementing best practices for a holistic review, evaluating trends and suggesting modifications based on data, implementing practices to improve efficiency and quality, searches for and shares better ways to effectively achieve end results. - Evaluates applications for admission and determine admission decisions.
- Provides consultation and training to admissions committees for assigned programs, includes convening the committee based upon admissions timeline, facilitates meetings, records admissions decisions and rational into AppReview, crafts communication for University fellowship nomination, etc.
Financial Aid (30%) Serve as primary admissions lead for facilitating the merit-based aid process. This includes: aid package creation, overseeing student merit based aid ranking process by program, working closely with the Admissions Director to assign aid packages, writing nomination letters for University based fellowships, identifying strong candidates who meet the criteria for Humphrey based named awards, managing financial aid budget process, providing distribution reports to track aid status, conducting annual audit of students receiving aid, creating an annual yield report to illustrate the correlation between aid and enrolment. - Works closely with the Director and School Leadership to develop the financial aid philosophical approach, best practices, strategy, awarding, re-awarding, and distribution plan.
- Oversees implementation of awarding, re-awarding, distribution and communications process.
- Serves as the functional and technical lead on resolving merit aid system and/or process issues.
- Works closely with key stakeholders (finance, OneStop, Graduate School, etc.) to consult and resolve issues.
- Serves as the admissions contact for students, faculty, and staff with merit-based aids needs, issues, etc., this includes solving problems that require integrative solutions such as how technologies, processes, resources, and people all fit together.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree with at least six years of experience in higher education recruitment and admissions or a related field
- Experience overseeing and implementing admissions and recruitment-specific events and programs
- Demonstrated experience leading effective financial aid awarding, re-awarding, distribution, communication, and processes
- Demonstrated experience with development of electronic and print communications materials and communication plans
- Demonstrated experience of self-direction and working autonomously
- Awareness of higher education market and impacts on admissions processes
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion and justice; experience working with diverse populations
- Demonstrated strong reasoning and organizational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience with public speaking
- Demonstrated strong work ethic with proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, at times with minimal direction
- Data analysis skills (such as funnel report review and development, historical data analysis, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience participating in application review processes
- Experience with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Gmail, Google docs and the Google suite
Preferred Qualifications - Completed master’s-level or higher degree from an accredited institution of higher education
- Experience with Student Ambassador Initiatives and prospective student visit days
- Experience with SLATE, PeopleSoft, and Admissions products
